Barrie-James is a Scottish singer-songwriter from Glasgow creating soulful and funk embellished alt-rock taking influence from the likes of Frank Zappa, Elliot Smith and Jeff Buckley. He started writing at the age of eleven and later established himself as a prolific writer with credits in tracks such as ‘Brooklyn Baby’ and ‘Black Beauty’ by Lana Del Rey. His debut album ‘Cold Coffee’ was produced by Robert Schnapf (credits include Beck, Kevin Devine & Dog Society) and was recorded in Los Angeles where Barrie resided for a few years. After organically building a devoted global fanbase and securing support from Pitchfork and KCRW’s tastemaker Nic Harcout, Barrie moved back to Glasgow and began work on second album ‘Psychedelic Soup’, recorded at Green Door studios. The album in its entirety is written solely by Barrie-James and is a true testament to his hard work, meaningful musical expression and exceptional songwriting skills.
